The Sock Hop
About 100 of us gathered for a 50th Rock 'n' Roll evening. We all had a great time at the Sock Hop on Friday night. The room was decorated with 50's memorabilia and two hundred green and white balloons over the dance floor.
The DJ was fantastic and the songs kept coming all night long
Carol and Butch Silven won the best dressed award with her in her poodle skirt and him in 50's style sneakers, rolled up jeans, and a white T with cigs rolled up in one sleeve...
Decorations were well done and there was even a juke box table for us to have our pictures taken at.
Steve and Jacky Carlson won the jitterbug contest, Alexis Leonard won a Hula Hoop contest, and Dick Evans won the Yo-Yo contest.

The Reunion Dinner at the Alpine Country Club
The 50th Reunion at the Alpine Country Club was attended by 280 classmates and guests. Thanks go out to all who came. You made it the best ever!
We were visited by a reported from the Cranston Herald early in the evening who took copious notes and snapped many pictures.
Even the band members from Reminisce remarked that it was the best reunion they have played at. They played throughout the evening from before dinner until the end of the night.
During a few breaks some of our own, Bobby Leonard and Richard DiSano took the stage and performed in song and more with the Patsy Cline song by Jean (Maio) Dionne getting a standing ovation.
During a delicious cocktail hour there was a sing-a-long with Bobby Leonard on the piano. A group gathered around with song sheets and sang oldies from the 50's.
The h'orderve table was about twenty feet long filled with the makings for an antipasto complete with calamari on one end and cheese, crackers, and fruit on the other end. There was plenty for all to enjoy.
Thanks go out for the centerpieces on each table to Eileen (Kennedy) Pallante and her husband Mike. They were handmade ice cream sundae dishes.
Thanks to Joe D'Ercole, we had two antique cars from our High School era out front where many had pictures taken either with their own cameras or by a professional photographer.
Before the main event got under way the classmates all gathered outside for a group picture.
Joining us was Cranston Mayor Allan Fung who stood with us for the picture and spoke afterwards while awarding Fran Calore with a special certificate for the reunion from the City.
Dick Evans welcomed everyone and prayed for the evening.
He also recognized Couch Ed Golden who recently celebrated his 86th birthday. Ed was on the dance floor jitterbugging throughout the evening.
Richard DiSano had a moment of silence for all who lost their lives in 9/11 and not forgetting our classmates who have gone before us and their spouses and friends. He ended with all of us singing God Bless America. Then the h'orderve table was cleared away and the music by Reminisce and the dancing began.
The committee put all the classmate's names in a box and drew names and Joel Westerman and Carol Caliri became King and Queen complete with crowns and a special dance.
Paul and Ann Haltenberger received a gift for traveling the furthest to attend the event. They live in Budapest Hungary!
It was a lively evening with camera's flashing, people chatting, dancing, movement from table to table mingling all night long. Dinner was great and included desert and coffee. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. Their job was a difficult one with the mingling and dancing going on throughout dinner.
Most everyone stayed until the end with many talking about coming to the next one!

Eighty-one Attended the final event in this three day 50th reunion weekend, a breakfast held at the Airport Sheraton in Warwick, RI.
Everyone could not stop talking about how much fun it was at both the Sock Hop on Friday and at the banquet at the Alpine on Saturday.
They not only want to come back for a 55th reunion, they want to get together in Florida in February. Some live in Florida, some are snow birds, and some are considering a winter vacation to join in on the fun!
The Sheraton did a wonderful job providing a delicious breakfast with bacon, eggs, home fries, French toast, muffins, fruit, juice, and coffee.
